Bob has always had an interest in trees and wood. After retiring from his career as a Wisconsin State Certified Arborist for over 35 years, he is pursuing his passion for wood working. His knowledge of trees and different woods has sparked the creation of some very unique and interesting pieces. Bob's favorite projects are custom pieces that fit a specific space or purpose in a home.
When he is not covered in saw dust, Bob is an avid outdoorsman who can be found caring for his property, training dogs or playing with his grandsons.
Leslie has always had an eye for interior design and decor. She truly believes that a home should reflect the passions of the residents, not the latest trend. She especially loves incorporating pieces into her home that tell a story. Many of Bob's custom tables are in the same room as pieces inherited from a grandparent. In addition to her own pieces, Leslie is "the finisher" for many of Bob's projects. She has enjoyed learning the art of finishing wood and assisting Bob with his creations.
Leslie spent 35 years as a music teacher, including 12 as a choir director at Random Lake High School. Her husband, Bob, was an arborist by trade, spending 35 years practicing Arboriculture. He also built the sets for Leslie’s musicals. Her creativity and his woodworking skills made them the perfect pair for bringing the sets and scenes to life. The two are retired now, and are using their skills for their next act.
Bob and Leslie have started Second Act Furniture to combine their skills and creativity in making unique pieces they can sell or share with loved ones. They use nontraditional materials and are finding ways to bring new life into items many people would brush aside.
